The only reason I wanted one was for sonic adventure but not any more. I don't want to waste money on a dreamcast. |

I have one. It's collecting dust up in my closet as we speak. Sonic Adventures, Shenume, Evolution and Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles were some of the games I remember. Shenume could have been a real classic if SEGA just promoted the system better and get a heads up on what consumers want.

Well the other problem was that people figured out how easy it was to get the Dreamcast to play burnt CD-Rs... and that didn't help with its downfall

I love my Dreamcast -- in the short time it was out, it produced a lot of classic games. RPGs like Grandia 2 and Skies of Arcadia are still sought after. Shenmue is a monster of a game but it's very rewarding if you devote the time. And Soul Calibur was just fantastic. The Sonic stuff was a lot better done than more recent offerings. The Sega sports games were great too.
That controller, though...it just wasn't right. I ended up buying a 3rd Party controller that felt a little better. Those VMU devices were cool though! |

As you said, SoA and Grandia 2 were fantastic. I suppose you could always throw in Evolution in there, but... it wasn't that great of a game. |

I totally forgot about this thread. But it's been 2 months ago since I bought a dreamcast. I currently have 4 games for it. Shenmue I and II, Skies of Arcadia and Grandia II. I beat Grandia II a week ago. One of the best battle systems for a RPG game ever imo.
I'm now currently playing Shenmue I. It's a pretty confusing game. I'm not used to puzzles and stuff. |

Dreamcast was segas last attempt to make a good console in my opnion, since the saturn sucked it lowered profits, and the other consoles that came out when dreamcast did totally blew it away. The ps2, xbox and gamecube where far better. I believe the only good sega consoloe was Genesis.

I have a Dreamcast, and I love it. Surely I like my Genesis more. But it's still a fine system. The games are fairly cheap on it too. It was the last time Sonic was good on a console, IMO. Then it also has other awesome games, such as Crazy Taxi and Chu Chu Rocket!, Virtua Tennis is also very good. I'd say the Dreamcast is worth owning, especially since they're roughly 20-30 dollars used.

It was my 3rd game console. I got it on my birthday years ago as a bundle.
It had Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2 Trial, a blue UMV, a second controller, and a Sonic Adventure Guide book! |
