Sadly I went to Wal-Mart yesterday too for dog food because its cheaper than Bi-Lo. I actually wasn't bombarded with as many people as I thought there would be there so I got lucky and I got the hail out as fast as possible. I hate that place.

our tax free thingy is over and with the weekend (fri-sun) we did a total of $103,000 tax free sales....So my town saved themselves 9,000 dollars in taxes...

It's easier to go to Delaware... they have no sales tax... period PA has no sales tax on food and clothes.

So how does this work? I assume the store is just eating the taxes themselves?

well kinda, you see in my corporation - CCity - its actually a choice that the facility makes on whether or not to participate in the event. (first weekend of August) If the facility participates in the event then for that weekend yes the store eats the taxes, although our monthly budget for that following month will be increased by the amount ate through the tax exemption plus 45% of that. So the Store on a corp level, yes eats the tax, although on a store level we benefit... make sense?
