I invested $12,000.00 on a coin flip

This morning, I decided to invest $12k into stock options and wire transferred the money based on flipping a quarter.

It's like they say, go big or go home...

Invest in this new stock. It's called "Jane". This stock needs investment money like none other.

But for real, good luck on your investments!

How is this a coin flip? That's risky stuff right there. Hopefully you are prepared to lose it all. If not then it would seem like there is a 50% chance you will be suicidal in the near future...

My uncle is a business prof, has all sorts of math degrees, etc, and recommended it to all of my family. I had decided to invest, but wasn't sure how much I wanted to put in, so I flipped.

Oh man Theres nothing like basing huge dollar amounts on a coin flip.

Quick story regarding that....

I go to these things called "Prime Bids" every once in a while. Its where the owner of a project bids out the work to each individual trade (ie: Painting, Plumbing, Electrical, Carpentry, Concrete, Structural, etc.) rather than a standard bid where they just offer the job to a General Contractor who does the trade selecting. But on this particular Job, which was a brand new 20-30 million dollar new school, there was a tie on the Electrical Package.

Electrical is a huge chunk of that bid, we're talking easily 5-7 million dollars worth of the whole percentage maybe even more. So the two low bidders on the project tied, I dont remember what the actual dollar figure was, but irregardless, they tied.

So everyone at this Prime Bid meeting gasps! Oh Noes what to do now! Low and behold the Fresno Builders Exchange Bidding Rule Book clearly states, "In the case of a tie, a best of 3 coin toss participated by representatives from the firms shall decide the tiebreaker.". The sad thing about it is, most companies especially the big ones only send Secretaries down to deliver and stay for the bid. So now theres this poor Secretary from each company and they've got to duke it out via a Best of 3 coin toss talk about pressure! The Poor girls are barely making minimum wage and yet they'll decide who wins a 5-7 million dollar job!

That's hilarious.

The winning secretary could put that on her future job applications: "Secured 5 million dollar contract for my company"

I'd only do a coin flip if all the alternatives have been vetted already and this is just a matter of "which of these fine options would I go with".

How's the status of your stocks? I heard the market has been doing better these days. You probably bought at a good time after all.

It was way up for a little while, but was down the last couple days. Total it's up a little bit, but not enough to really matter.
