Yup, that, too. It could even be more beneficial to the more boring sports. Say you want to keep watching the same channel, but you're bored. Well, you can just change cameras to see what's going on in the stands and turn back to the baseball game once you hear something exciting beginning to happen.
Another reason to be used in wrestling is for viewing the people in the stands. I for one would like to see the different signs and see what people are doing. Especially during boring matches or whatnot.
They could even have "Easter Eggs" where if you tune in backstage you spot somebody like Doink the Clown doing something or Batista crying. Something you normally wouldn't see.
